Profile: Experienced with many different flavors of Linux, including Red Hat Enterprise Server, SUSE, and Debian. Strong understanding of SUN Solaris installation and maintenance. Able to install and configure and troubleshoot HP-UX and AIX. Excellent knowledge of configuration and maintenance of all Microsoft operating systems. Competent in the administration of VMWare Infrastructure 3. Comfortable with the administration of third party products such as Veritas Netbackup, Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) Autosys, and Opsware. Experienced in the repair of HP, SUN, and Dell desktops, servers, laptops, and printers. Proficient with Novell technologies including NDS, Console One, GroupWise, and SuSE Linux. Can install, and configure server applications such as Apache Web Server, MySQL, and PHP on various platforms. Familiar with network monitoring software such as BMC Patrol, CA Unicenter, and Nagios. Knowledge of multiple scripting languages, including PHP, JavaScript, and BASH. Comfortable with standard SQL Servers, including MySQL and MsSQL. Able to perform basic networking tasks such as VLAN administration on Cisco products. Familiar with help desk ticketing systems such as Peregrine, Remedy, Magic Total Support, and CA Service Desk.
Employment: CVS Caremark, 09/2008-Present [Contract] Sr. Linux Engineer Work with a team on a nation wide upgrade of approximately 7000 servers from SCO UNIX to SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.1 on IBM hardware. Heavily utilize BASH,PHP, and MySQL to develop centralized utilities and applications for the automation of administrative tasks. Convert web tools originally written in BASH CGI to database driven PHP applications. Implemented a Role Based Authentication Control System for administrative tools in PHP/MySQL. Created a secure encrypted system for performing emergency backup and restore to/from removable media in compliance with Company security policies and HIPAA regulations. Work independently and along with a team to propose and provide efficient, creative solutions to unique and complicated tasks.
Omgeo Inc, 03/2008-09/2008 [Contract] Linux/UNIX Administrator 03/2008-Present Developed a 24x7 support matrix and execution plan for the company's Development and QA environment. Worked with a team of 3 developing an automated process using BladeLogic and BASH to bring the dev/prod environments up to SAS70 standards. Created web applications to control company inventory, contacts, and other useful sysadmin tools. Ensured and verified that the environment of approximately 100 servers meets business security standards, patch levels and audit requirements. Performed installation and maintenance of both SUN hardware and software (Solaris 10, E12k, V220, T1000) and HP Blade Servers running Red Hat Linux 5.
