My iPhone
So. iPhone OS 4.0 is coming out, and people have been asking my opinion on it.
Honestly.. It doesn't offer me anything I don't already have.

Custom wallpapers?

I generally prefer a black background, but if I were so inclined, I could change this, along with the icons and fonts to any of the thousands of available themes with Winterboard.

Currently, I'm using the glaskgart theme.

Backgrounding?

For one, what Apple is proposing isn't true multitasking. Apps need to be rewritten to be "Background Service Aware"
This isn't necissarily a bad thing, but it isn't all that spectacular either.

Kirikae has provided this service for quite some time.

And what annoys me about stock iPhone OS the most, is that it doesn't have a useful lock screen. Even the old ipaq devices had nice lockscreens that showed your upcomming appointments and messages and whatnot.

I think not including this from the beginning has been a mistake... So I get it with the cydia lockinfo app.

So yea, it's cool that Apple is providing some of these new features. But, there is really nothing all that impressive slated. If anything it will bring some of these things to people unwilling to jailbreak. Personally though, since there will be no lockinfo with stock iphone os 4, I'll stick with things the way they are.
