I got a frantic call from my mom a while back about her Westinghouse TV.
She would turn it on, and then seconds later, the display would go blank.
The audio stayed on, and the blue power indicator stayed lit, but there was absolutely nothing on the screen.
I looked at it a bit, and couldn’t find anything obvious, so I took it home for a closer look.
I’ve never seen the inside of an LCD TV or monitor before, so I was a little surprised to find how clean it is in there.
Everything is very clean and elegant, and there’s not too much going on.
After a half hour or so of examining the innards, I stumbled across what I believe is the problem.
The inverter board has 3 transformers on it. The middle transformer has melted. I can see that the back of the circut
board has some char on it.
I’m not much for electrical repairs like this, but it doesn’t seem too difficult. I think this just has to be removed and replaced.
I found replacement transformers online for $29.99.
She’s already bought a new TV, but when I get sick of looking at the 32″ nightmare sitting on my kitchen table, I’ll likely see if it’s something I can do.

I’m in the situation… the top transformer (4302h) burnt out on me and I decided to buy a replacement. After waiting almost two weeks the part finally arrived, I was ready and willing to repair this lcd tv. After about an hour of removing, replacing and putting everything back together the time has come to see the results. Plugged it up, powered it on (crossing my fingers) and guess what happened… westinghouse logo comes on, then the setup screen and off goes the backlight. I hooked up my nintendo wii using the component input and powered it up again… same thing only this time I can hear the audio and using a flashlight, can see the picture but backlight fails to stay on. Turned it off… then back on and the backlight would stay on for about 5 seconds… this will happen over and over again.
Would like to know how your experience went? The screen on this unit is clean and clear… and the picture looks great. If only there was a way to solve this problem… I thought about buying another board (darfon b070-601) but I’m worried this might not help and I don’t want to waste the time and money.

My experience? Mine’s still sitting apart out on my porch. Never touched it again. It’s been out there in pieces for a year.. I’m just waiting until I have enough junk to order a trash bin.
